Most preschools in San Antonio fall into two camps: glorified daycare with crafts and circle time, or rigid academic prep that drains the curiosity right out of a four-year-old. Edquisitive is neither. We’re the Montessori preschool San Antonio parents pick when they want their child to walk into kindergarten reading, writing, and confident — without losing the love of learning that makes the next 13 years bearable.
Over 300 Edquisitive graduates have walked into NEISD, NISD, BISD, and area private kindergartens in the past five years. Their teachers consistently tell us the same thing: Edquisitive kids show up reading, writing their names, working independently, and resolving conflicts without an adult stepping in. That’s not a marketing claim — it’s what kindergarten teachers look for, and it’s what we build every single day from age 3 onward.
Most preschools introduce letters. Montessori preschools teach reading. By the time your child finishes our primary classroom (the Montessori name for ages 3–6), they’re decoding words, writing sentences, and choosing chapter books on their own. We use the Montessori sandpaper letters, moveable alphabet, and phonetic reading materials — the same proven sequence that’s worked for 100+ years.
Our Stone Oak campus, Spanish Grove Academy, offers full bilingual Spanish immersion at no extra cost. Children ages 2–5 absorb Spanish during the brain’s critical language window — when learning a second language is effortless, not academic. Most San Antonio preschools that offer Spanish charge $200+ extra per month. Ours is included.
We pair classical Montessori with our proprietary edScription™ inquiry-based curriculum — so your child isn’t just memorizing facts, they’re learning how to ask better questions. Science Fridays, hands-on STEM, and project-based learning are built into every week, included in tuition, never an add-on.
Our on-site chef prepares fresh, USDA-compliant meals daily. No outsourced catering, no microwaved trays. We accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions, and food is treated as part of the learning environment — children serve themselves, clear their own plates, and learn table manners as practical life skills.
Texas allows up to 18 children per teacher in primary classrooms. Our preschool classrooms are designed for fewer — because individual attention isn’t a luxury, it’s the entire point of Montessori. Every child is observed, known, and progressed at their own pace by guides trained specifically in early childhood development.
All Edquisitive campuses hold the highest accreditations available in early childhood education. Cognia accreditation is the same standard top-rated K-12 schools meet. Texas Rising Star 4-Star is the maximum rating awarded by the state. These aren’t participation trophies — they’re rigorous, audited credentials that fewer than 10% of San Antonio preschools achieve.
Most San Antonio parents use “preschool,” “childcare,” and “daycare” interchangeably — and they’re not wrong. They’re searching for the same thing: a safe, enriching place for their child while they work. The difference isn’t the word. It’s what happens inside the building.

“Our daughter started reading at 4. Her kindergarten teacher pulled us aside on the first day and asked where she’d gone to preschool — she said it was obvious.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Rachel K., Mom of Pre-K Graduate, Stone Oak
“We toured five preschools in San Antonio. Edquisitive was the only one where the kids were actually doing something — not waiting in line for the bathroom or sitting on a rug. That’s when I knew.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — David L., Preschool Parent, Medical Center

A 30-minute tour. No pressure, no obligation. See the classrooms, meet the guides, and decide for yourself if Edquisitive is the right preschool for your family.
For most San Antonio parents, these words are used interchangeably — they all describe a place where your child spends the day while you work. The real difference is what happens inside. A licensed daycare focuses on supervision and activities. A preschool — especially a Montessori preschool like Edquisitive — focuses on learning, development, and kindergarten readiness using a structured, research-backed curriculum. You’re not choosing between three different things; you’re choosing between three different levels of intentionality.
Our preschool program serves children ages 2 through 5 — from the toddler transition through Pre-K. We also offer infant care (10 weeks–18 months) and kindergarten (5–6 years), so your child can stay with us through their entire early childhood. Most families enroll between ages 2 and 3 and stay through kindergarten.
For most families who tour both, yes. Montessori preschool produces measurably stronger kindergarten readiness, independence, and self-regulation — backed by 100+ years of research and modern peer-reviewed studies. The difference shows up in kindergarten and beyond. That said, Montessori isn’t right for every child or every family. The best way to know is to tour an authentic Montessori preschool and watch what the children are actually doing. We invite you to come see for yourself.
San Antonio preschool tuition typically ranges from $180 to $400 per week depending on the program, hours, and what’s included. Edquisitive’s all-inclusive tuition runs $200–$365 per week and covers everything: chef-prepared meals, Spanish immersion (Stone Oak), STEM, yoga, music, and all classroom materials. We also accept CCS and CCA, and offer sibling discounts. View detailed tuition information →
Yes. We accept both Child Care Services (CCS) and Child Care Aware (CCA) at all four Edquisitive campuses. Families using CCS or CCA get full access to our complete Montessori preschool program — including Spanish, STEM, yoga, and meals — at no additional cost.
A Montessori preschool day looks very different from a traditional one. Children begin with a 2.5–3 hour uninterrupted “work cycle” where they choose their own activities from prepared shelves — practical life work, sensorial materials, math, language, geography. The guide observes and gently introduces new lessons one-on-one. Mornings include outdoor time, snack, and Spanish (at Spanish Grove Academy). Afternoons include lunch, rest, and a second work cycle. There’s no whole-class instruction. There’s no waiting. Every child is doing meaningful work most of the day.
Most children are ready between ages 2 and 3. Signs of readiness include showing interest in other children, being able to follow simple two-step directions, expressing independence (“I do it myself”), and being able to separate from you for short periods. If you’re unsure, our team can help you decide during a tour — we’ve helped hundreds of San Antonio families navigate this exact question.
