a bi-cultural family · in their own words

Two languages. One school. The gift parents pass down.

We are so happy that our son is attending Spanish Grove Academy. The teachers and staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. By day two he was smiling and excited to attend school. SGA is so much more than a daycare. We are a bi-cultural family, and making sure that I passed down the gift of speaking two languages to my children was extremely important to me.

about the dual-language model

Will my child fall behind in English? No.

It’s the question every parent asks before enrolling — and the answer matters. At SGA, children spend roughly half their day in Spanish and half in English. Both languages develop alongside each other, with literacy instruction in English carefully integrated throughout the curriculum. Research consistently shows bilingual children develop stronger focus, enhanced memory, and more flexible problem-solving than monolingual peers.

Children leave SGA fully prepared for English-speaking kindergarten classrooms across NEISD, NISD, and area private schools — with the lifelong cognitive advantage of having grown up in two languages from infancy.

Ms. Maya has exceeded every hope we had for a teacher. She takes the time to connect with Piper in the most thoughtful ways — kneeling down to talk to her eye-to-eye, offering patience when she’s overwhelmed, and celebrating her wins, big and small.

Our son has been attending since 18 months of age and he is now 3 years old and still loves going to school daily. Our baby girl also just joined last month in the infant room. Every single teacher, admin, staff member makes us feel welcome and cared for.

Frequently Asked Questions About Spanish Grove Academy

cognia-accredited dual-language montessori in stone oak since 2010

What makes Spanish Grove Academy different from other Stone Oak daycares?

Spanish Grove Academy combines authentic dual-language Montessori education with inquiry-based learning, freshly prepared meals, and intentionally smaller classrooms — all while accepting CCS, Military CCA, and TEFA to keep quality education accessible. SGA is Cognia accredited, Texas Rising Star 4-Star rated, and has been serving Stone Oak families since 2010. The combination of bilingual education, Montessori methodology, and a 15+ year track record is unique among Stone Oak daycares.

Is SGA a Spanish Immersion or a Dual-Language program?

SGA is a 50/50 dual-language program. Children spend roughly half the day in Spanish and half the day in English, with both languages developing alongside each other. This differs from a Spanish immersion model (where the majority of instruction is in Spanish) and is designed to support strong development in both languages simultaneously.

Will my child fall behind in English if they learn Spanish too?

No. Research consistently shows bilingual children develop stronger focus, enhanced memory, and more flexible problem-solving than monolingual peers. At SGA, English literacy instruction is carefully integrated throughout the curriculum, preparing your child for seamless transition to English-speaking kindergarten classrooms across NEISD, NISD, and area private schools.

Do the Spanish teachers at SGA have native fluency?

Yes. The lead teachers in our Spanish-language classrooms are native or near-native Spanish speakers who are also fully trained in Montessori methodology and inquiry-based curriculum, ensuring both linguistic accuracy and educational excellence.

Does my child need to speak Spanish to enroll?

No. Most children begin with little or no Spanish. Language develops naturally through daily activities, routines, songs, and interactions with teachers and peers. Our youngest learners — infants and toddlers — pick up vocabulary remarkably quickly when exposed to it during the critical language acquisition window from 0–5 years.

What ages does SGA serve?

SGA serves children from 10 weeks through Pre-K (age 5) during the school year, with summer camp extending through age 12. Programs include infants (10 weeks–18 months), toddlers (18–36 months), primary/preschool (3–6 years), and Pre-K kindergarten preparation. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

What is tuition at SGA?

All-inclusive tuition at Spanish Grove Academy ranges from $200 to $365 per week, based on your child’s age and schedule. Tuition covers meals, Montessori materials, dual-language curriculum, yoga, mindfulness, music, and STEM enrichment — no additional enrichment fees. We accept CCS, Military CCA, and TEFA subsidies — as an approved TEFA provider, eligible families may receive up to $10,500 per year toward tuition. View current tuition details.

Does SGA accept CCS, CCA, or TEFA?

Yes to all three. Spanish Grove Academy accepts Child Care Services (CCS) subsidies through Workforce Solutions Alamo, Military Childcare Aware (CCA) for eligible military families, and is an approved provider under the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program — which can provide eligible families up to $10,500 per year toward tuition. TEFA selection is lottery-based — learn more about TEFA eligibility or contact the campus at (210) 390-1470 for current enrollment details.

Is SGA accredited?

Yes. Spanish Grove Academy is Cognia accredited, Texas Rising Star 4-Star rated, and an approved Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) provider — the highest combined designations for early childhood education in Texas. SGA has been serving Stone Oak families since 2010.
