The Childcare San Antonio Parents Trust When Dropping Off Is the Hardest Part

"I cried the first morning. By pickup, she was calmer than me. Three years later, she still runs in." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Mom, Medical Center

Why San Antonio Parents Trust Edquisitive for Childcare

Choosing childcare in San Antonio isn’t really a logistics problem. It’s a trust problem. You’re handing over the most important person in your life to people you just met, in a building you just toured, hoping they’ll love your child almost as much as you do. Edquisitive has been doing this work in San Antonio since 1992 — longer than most of our competitors have existed. We know what trust looks like on both sides of the door at 7:45 in the morning, and we’ve built every part of our childcare program around earning it.

🏅 Trusted in San Antonio Since 1992

Our Little Red Caboose campus on Babcock Road has cared for San Antonio families since 1992. That’s over three decades of first days, first words, first steps, and first goodbyes. Some of the children who attended LRC in the 90s now bring their own children here. There’s no shortcut to that kind of trust — you earn it one morning drop-off at a time, for thirty years.

👩‍🏫 25 Years of Montessori Leadership

Our Head of Schools, Melissa Zamora, has spent 25 years in Montessori early childhood education. She personally trains every lead guide at every Edquisitive campus. When you walk into one of our classrooms, what you’re seeing isn’t a franchise playbook or a corporate training manual — it’s a quarter-century of hands-on experience with San Antonio children, passed directly to the teachers caring for yours.

📊 Classrooms Designed Smaller Than State Maximums

Texas allows larger class sizes than we think are right for children. Our infant rooms are designed for fewer children than the state permits. Our toddler rooms are designed for fewer. Our primary rooms are designed for fewer. Every classroom is built around the number of children one caring adult can actually know — not the number the state will technically allow. That difference shows up in every cuddle, every diaper change, and every tearful drop-off handled with real presence.

🏅 Cognia Accredited & Texas Rising Star 4-Star

All Edquisitive campuses hold both major credentials in early childhood care: Cognia accreditation (the same rigorous standard used by top K-12 schools) and Texas Rising Star 4-Star (the highest quality rating awarded by the state). Fewer than 10% of San Antonio childcare centers hold both. These aren’t stickers on the window — they’re audited, verified proof that what we say we do is what we actually do.

👨‍🍳 Chef-Prepared Meals Every Single Day

Our on-site chef prepares fresh, USDA-compliant meals daily — nothing frozen, nothing outsourced, nothing reheated from a corporate warehouse. We accommodate allergies, dietary restrictions, and infant feeding plans with real care. Food is part of the learning environment: children help serve themselves, clear their plates, and learn that mealtime is a moment of community, not a chore.

🌎 Bilingual Spanish Immersion (Stone Oak)

Our Spanish Grove Academy campus in Stone Oak offers full Spanish immersion from infancy onward — at no additional cost. Most San Antonio childcare centers that offer Spanish charge hundreds extra per month. Ours is included because we believe bilingualism is a gift children earn most easily before age 5, and no family should be priced out of giving it to them.

💰 CCS & CCA Accepted at All Campuses

We proudly accept Child Care Services (CCS) and Child Care Aware (CCA) at all four Edquisitive campuses. Families using CCS or CCA receive the exact same program as private-pay families — same Montessori materials, same Spanish, same meals, same everything. Quality childcare in San Antonio shouldn’t be a luxury good, and we don’t treat it like one.

What Parents Say About Our Childcare

“I cried on the first day of infant drop-off. By 10 AM, the teacher had texted me a photo of my baby sleeping peacefully. By pickup, she was calmer than I was. Three years later, she still runs into the building.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Rachel K., Infant Parent, Stone Oak

“We’re both physicians. Our schedules are insane. Little Red Caboose has been our second family for two years — they know our son better than some of our extended family does. I can’t imagine leaving him anywhere else.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — David L., Medical Center

“Our 2-year-old is so independent now — she goes potty on her own, helps clean up, and insists ‘I do it myself.’ That came from her teachers at Edquisitive, not us.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Jessica M., Mom of 2-Year-Old, Fair Oaks

Frequently Asked Questions About San Antonio Childcare

What’s the difference between childcare, daycare, and preschool?

In San Antonio, parents use these words interchangeably — and they’re not wrong. All three describe a licensed place where your child spends the day while you work. The real difference is what happens inside the building. Edquisitive is licensed as a childcare center, but what we actually provide is full Montessori education from 10 weeks through kindergarten. You’re not choosing between three different things. You’re choosing between different levels of intentionality.

How much does childcare cost in San Antonio?

San Antonio childcare costs typically range from $180 to $450 per week depending on the child’s age, the program, and what’s included. Infant childcare is the most expensive because it requires more one-on-one care. Edquisitive’s all-inclusive tuition runs $200–$365 per week and covers chef-prepared meals, Spanish immersion (at Stone Oak), STEM, yoga, music, and all materials. We accept CCS and CCA, and offer sibling discounts. View detailed tuition information →

Do you accept CCS or CCA for childcare?

Yes. We accept both Child Care Services (CCS) and Child Care Aware (CCA) at all four Edquisitive campuses. Families using CCS or CCA get the exact same Montessori program as private-pay families — including Spanish, STEM, yoga, and meals — at no extra cost.

What ages do you accept for childcare?

We accept infants as young as 10 weeks old through kindergarten age (6 years). Our full program includes: Infant Care (10 weeks–18 months), Toddler Care (18 months–3 years), Preschool/Primary (3–5 years), and Kindergarten (5–6 years). We also offer after-school and summer camp programs for children ages 6–12.

Is Edquisitive licensed by the state of Texas?

Yes. All four Edquisitive campuses are fully licensed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), which oversees childcare licensing in Texas. In addition, we hold Cognia accreditation (a rigorous educational standard) and Texas Rising Star 4-Star (the highest state quality rating) — credentials held by fewer than 10% of San Antonio childcare centers.

How do I choose the right childcare center in San Antonio?

The most important thing you can do is tour in person during the day — not at 5 PM when the rooms are empty. Watch what the children are actually doing. Are they engaged or restless? Are teachers calm or stressed? Is the room clean and orderly? Do the children seem to know the teachers? Trust your gut — if something feels off on the tour, it will feel worse at 7:45 AM on a Monday. We’ve written a complete guide to choosing childcare in San Antonio if you want a checklist.

What should I look for on a childcare tour?

Look at the children, not the walls. Are they calmly engaged in work, or bouncing around waiting for the next activity? Look at the teachers — are they kneeling next to individual children, or managing the whole group from a chair? Ask about teacher turnover (high turnover is the #1 red flag in childcare). Ask to see a typical daily schedule. Ask how meals are prepared. We also have a free downloadable tour checklist you can bring with you.

Do you offer free tours of your childcare campuses?

Yes. We offer free 30-minute tours Monday through Friday, typically between 10 AM and 2 PM. You’ll see the classrooms during active learning, meet the guides, and have time to ask questions. Schedule your free tour online or call your preferred campus directly.
