Everything Parents Want to Know About EdQuisitive Montessori

At EdQuisitive Montessori, we know that choosing the right preschool is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make as a parent.
Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions families ask about our philosophy, programs, and enrollment process.

🌱 About EdQuisitive Montessori

❓ What does “EdQuisitive” mean?

Our name comes from combining “education” and “inquisitive.” It reflects our mission — to nurture children’s natural curiosity and turn questions into confidence.

❓ Is EdQuisitive Montessori the same as Edquisitive Montessori?

EdQuisitive Montessori was founded by the leadership team behind Edquisitive Montessori, which pioneered virtual preschool during COVID and grew to five campuses in San Antonio. EdQuisitive continues that 20-year legacy with a renewed focus on curiosity, inquiry, and modern Montessori learning.

❓ What ages do you serve?

We welcome children ages 0–5 years — from infants to pre-kindergarten — in age-appropriate Montessori classrooms. We also offer after-school and summer programs for children 5-12 years.

🧩 Programs & Schedule

❓ What programs do you offer?

We offer several flexible options to meet each family’s needs:
Full-Time Program: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM (includes extended care depending on campus)
School-Day Program: 8:30 AM – 2:45 PM
Part-Time Program: two or three day sessions, available for select age groups

❓ Are you open year-round?

Yes! EdQuisitive Montessori operates year-round, providing consistent routines and learning opportunities through every season.

❓ What are your school hours?

Our campuses are open Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM. We observe major holidays and professional development days aligned with local ISDs.

❓ Do you offer summer programs?

Yes. Summer sessions include hands-on STEM, outdoor exploration, and art experiences that extend Montessori principles into creative seasonal learning.

🏫 Montessori & Inquiry-Based Learning

❓ What is a Montessori preschool?

Montessori education empowers children to learn through independence, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Teachers guide — not instruct — allowing each child to move at their own pace and build confidence through discovery.

❓ How is EdQuisitive Montessori different from traditional preschools?

Traditional classrooms are teacher-led. Our Montessori classrooms are child-led and curiosity-driven, blending classic Montessori with modern inquiry-based learning (IBL) so children learn to think critically and creatively.

❓ What is Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL)?

IBL encourages children to ask questions, explore materials, and make connections — turning curiosity into understanding. It complements Montessori by helping children develop strong decision-making and reasoning skills.

❓ Do you teach in more than one language?

Yes! Our bilingual classrooms integrate English and Spanish, helping children develop language flexibility, cultural awareness, and stronger communication skills.

❓ How do you prepare children for kindergarten?

Our Pre-K curriculum emphasizes problem-solving, communication, and emotional readiness — ensuring each child transitions confidently into elementary school and beyond.

👩‍🏫 Teachers & Classrooms

❓ Are your teachers certified?

Yes. Every lead teacher is trained or enrolled in certification programs from accredited institutions.

❓ What are your teacher-to-student ratios?

We maintain lower ratios than state requirements — for example, 2:16 in toddlers compared to Texas’s 2:22, 2:24 vs 2:36 for preschoolers — to ensure personalized attention and guided independence.

❓ How do you ensure safety and cleanliness?

Safety is a top priority. All campuses follow strict security check-in procedures, regular classroom sanitization, and ongoing staff training in health and safety best practices.

❓ How do teachers communicate with parents?

We use a digital communication app (tadpoles) to share daily reports, photos, and developmental updates. Families also receive periodic progress assessments and have the option for parent-teacher conferences.

🧒 Infants & Toddlers

❓ How do you handle diapers and potty training?

Our teachers follow each child’s natural readiness cues. We partner with parents to make potty training consistent between home and school.

❓ What supplies do parents need to bring?

We provide meals, snacks, and classroom materials. Families send a few comfort items — diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes.

❓ What is your nap policy?

Each classroom includes a calm, restful environment. Toddlers and younger children nap daily; older preschoolers have quiet rest periods with soft music or books.

🧁 Meals, Nutrition & Allergies

❓ Do you provide meals and snacks?

Yes. Nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included in tuition. All meals meet USDA Child Nutrition Guidelines.

❓ Can you accommodate food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Absolutely. Families provide allergy information during enrollment, and our staff ensures substitutions and safe food handling.

🧮 Tuition, Enrollment & Assistance

❓ Do you accept CCS or CCA?

Yes. We proudly accept Child Care Services (CCS) and Child Care Aware (CCA) at all campuses.

❓ What does tuition include?

Tuition is all-inclusive — covering nutritious meals, bilingual education, yoga, music, and STEM activities. No hidden fees.

❓ How can I schedule a tour?

You can schedule a campus tour directly online. Visit our Schedule a Tour page to choose a date and time that works best for your family.

❓ How do I start the enrollment process?

After your tour, our campus directors will guide you through the simple enrollment form, program selection, and orientation steps.

❓ Do you offer sibling discounts?

Yes — sibling discounts are available. Please ask your campus director for details.

❓ When is tuition due?

Tuition is due monthly/weekly and can be paid online or through auto-draft for convenience.

🔒 Safety, Security & Health

❓ How do you handle illnesses?

We follow strict health policies. Children must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school to ensure the well-being of all students.

❓ How do you communicate emergencies or closures?

Parents receive real-time updates via text, email, and app notifications for any weather or emergency closures.

❓ How do you keep children safe during the school day?

We use secure, monitored entry systems, background-checked staff, and strict sign-in/out procedures to ensure only authorized individuals access our campuses.

❓ What health and hygiene practices do you follow?

All classrooms are sanitized daily, and high-touch areas are cleaned throughout the day. Teachers model healthy habits like handwashing and proper coughing/sneezing etiquette.

❓ How are emergencies handled at the school?

Each campus has a detailed Emergency Preparedness Plan covering fire, weather, lockdown, and medical scenarios. Staff receive regular safety drills and CPR/First-Aid training.

❓ Are all teachers trained in CPR and First Aid?

Yes. Every teacher and administrator maintains current CPR and First-Aid certification, renewed annually.

❓ What is your visitor policy?

All visitors must check in at the front desk, present ID, and wear a visitor badge. Classroom access is only allowed with prior authorization.

❓ How do you handle drop-off and pick-up?

Parents receive secure codes or digital verification. Staff supervise all transitions to and from classrooms to ensure each child’s safety.

❓ How do you ensure playground safety?

Playgrounds are fenced, age-appropriate, and inspected daily. Teachers maintain direct supervision during all outdoor play.

❓ How do you handle food allergies or medical needs?

We maintain detailed allergy and medical forms for each child and train staff on individualized care plans. Food substitutions are provided when needed.

❓ What security systems are in place?

Each campus is equipped with surveillance cameras, secure entry doors, and monitored alarm systems to ensure constant safety awareness.

❓ How did your safety policies evolve during and after COVID-19?

We implemented virtual learning options, enhanced cleaning protocols, and health screening measures—many of which remain part of our daily operations.

🧭 Transitions, Behavior & Social Growth

❓ How do you support positive behavior?

We use positive guidance and redirection — encouraging children to make kind, thoughtful choices and learn from natural consequences.

❓ How do you help children develop social skills?

Through group activities, peer collaboration, and daily grace and courtesy lessons, children learn empathy, respect, and communication.

❓ Are your campuses accredited?

Yes! All EdQuisitive Montessori campuses are Texas Rising Star 4-Star rated and Cognia-accredited, meeting the highest standards in early education.

To prepare children for school and for life — by nurturing curiosity, independence, and a deep sense of wonder that drives lifelong learning.
